Sunland Park Plaza: Will it Ever Open?

Obviously, the Sunland Park Plaza did not open on April 2nd as many people heard.  It is truly frustrating and disappointing for this plaza to be sitting there with nobody able to skate it.  In fact, on April 2nd, almost fifty people showed up at the plaza for a grand opening that never happened.  All of these dedicated skaters went out there and skated, even though the plaza was closed.  It wasn't long before the cops came however.  The cops cruised in with five or six cars.  They were pretty cool about everything in general, but that's besides the point.
The point is that the skate park is complete, and nobody can skate it.  The park has been complete for some time now, but due to some complications, the opening keeps getting postponed.  The park was originally planned to be open sometime in November.  The plaza has been in a complete state since sometime in February, but the word on the street is that there were some plumbing and water issues that needed to be fixed.  However, those issues have been resolved, because there is water all over the park from the sprinklers.  Someone else said that the state still owes the contractor for the project.

Never the less, this park needs to be open to the public! We heard that it will be opening in the middle of this month, but who knows?  We also heard it was going to open last month, and the month before that...

Only time will tell! Go skate the plaza, now!

Chase Ortiz went out to the plaza and had a great time! Check out his Chuco T-Shirt! Woo!
This side is fun!
Step-up rail action!

As we skated around, we started to notice water everywhere from the sprinklers.  I hope this isn't something that happens everyday! If so, then every time the sprinklers come on, water pools in areas of the park...
One of these suckers goes for $1,000. There are well over 40.  Hmmm....

This area is sick! 4-Block and an 8-stair with large hubba ledges
It was a windy day!

To All Skaters in the El Paso Area: Get out there and skate this thing! The more pressure that is put on the city to open it, the sooner they will do it!  They built this thing to be skated, they can't keep it closed up forever!

See you out there!
